Methods and Source Material. Source material for the research was sunflower hybrids created by using lines with different fatty acid composition of oil. Fatty acid composition was determined by gas chromatography of methyl esters of fatty acids. Circadian changes in temperature were calculated as the difference between the maximum and minimum diurnal temperatures averaged for two interphase periods of sunflower vegetation measured in days for each hybrid.

Results and Discussion. Circadian differences in temperature over the period of "seedling-flowering" largely influenced the unsaturated fatty acid content; over the period of "flowering- physiological ripeness" - on the saturated acid content. Contents of oleic and linoleic acids in seed oil from hybrids of oleic group were less dependent on temperature changes than those from hybrids of stearic group. With increasing circadian temperature fluctuations (during the "seedling-flowering" period), oleic acid content decreased in both groups of hybrids, and linoleic acid content increased. With increasing circadian temperature fluctuations, the saturated acid contents increased or decreased, depending on the group of hybrids.

Conclusions. Fatty acid composition of oil from hybrids of different groups variously depends on circadian temperature changes. Knowledge of variability of fatty acids composition depending on circadian temperature differential can be used to select cultivation areas for different groups of hybrids to produce harvest with desired quality.
