X-ray excitation is a simple and reliable metod in determining of the luminescent parameters of dielectrics with a large gap. The main advantage of X-ray excitation compared with other types of ionizing radiation is a high volume of uniform excitation of an object. It's also important to note the abscence of charge on the surface of the sample,which is typical for electron bombardment of solids, and that it's not necessary to place the sample in the vacuum.

Thermluminescence methods are used in physics of solid state to study the energy spectrum of electron traps in solids, and in minerology.Centers of luminescence of crystals are various structural defects that are created under various conditions of crystal creation, as well as during exposure to ionization radiation, and by other external influences. The spectre and character of the luminescencecarry information about the nature of luminiscence centers, their energy parameters, their radiation and thermal effects.

Integral curves of thermal luminescence of crystals KCl-YCl3- investigated, which contain a series of peaks that correspond to delocalizationof holes in the KYCl4and KCl matrices. In the spectrums of X-ray luminescence of KCl-YCl3- crystals, bands of CE radiation were detected at 378 and 412 nm, as well as own luminiscence bands of KCl matrix. We have determined the spectral composition of the TSL of the KCl-YCl3- crystals,which corresponds to radiation of Ce in the microcrystalline phase KYCl4, and to radiation of the exciton matrix KCL.

We found that the opaque areas of grown samples contain the microcrystalline phase KYCl_4, while the transparent areas do not.
